Women Behind <\/span><\/span><\/span>The Mic\u2122 is a Movement which includes a book and a Docu-series focusing on the ‘Sheroes’ who curated what is known as Pop Culture today. These veteran executives share intimate and revealing conversations on working behind the scenes in entertainment, the bond of sisterhood, and the importance of a positive self-esteem while working in a male dominated industry.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>

The time has come for these women to stand in their truth, cement their legacy, celebrate one another, and tell their stories as the women who were the driving force in the evolution of Pop Culture from the streets to the mainstream! The world will be inspired by the elite group of women who were – and still are sisters – by love, and not by blood. LaJoyce Brookshire (formerly of Arista Records) and Michelle Joyce (formerly of Bad Boy Records) are Co-Creators of the Movement\/Book\/Lecture\/Documentary Series <\/span>Women Behind The Mic<\/b><\/i><\/span>\u2122<\/span><\/span><\/span>. Together they have written a Curriculum for students to learn about careers in the Entertainment Industry<\/span>. Volume One \u201cWord To The Wise<\/b><\/i><\/span> won the 2023 African American Literary Award for \u201cBest Anthology\u201d. <\/span><\/p>

Michelle states, \u201cToday, the \u201cSheroes\u201d who championed The Culture of a genre no one expected to last -so much so- that Hip-Hop is now classified as the most-listened-to-genre globally!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>

LaJoyce continues, \u201cThe book is a collective of conversations, personal stories, and photographs with the History makers of the Music Industry. Dr. LaJoyce Brookshire<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Dr. LaJoyce Brookshire will tell you she is a full-time wife and mother and a part-time everything else. That includes being a Naturopathic Doctor and the New York Times<\/i> bestselling author of the novel based on the smash hit movie \u201cSoul Food\u201d, with ten concurrent bestselling books. LaJoyce was a high-powered entertainment publicist as Director of Publicity at Arista Records in the 90s, artists such as The Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin, Sean “Puffy” Combs, Toni Braxton, Kenny G, OutKast, Monica, Deborah Cox, Craig Mack, Total, Faith Evans, 112, Usher, TLC, Whitney Houston, and The Notorious B.I.G aka (Biggie Smalls) to name a few. Due to her efforts as Director of Publicity her artists sold over 100 million albums worldwide. Michelle Joyce<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Affectionately known as “The Digital Chick”, Michelle’s career began in music when she worked alongside Sean Combs as the Director of Marketing for Bad Boy Entertainment. Michelle conceived, developed, planned and executed the marketing blueprints for the label for artists like The Notorious BIG, Craig Mack, Faith Evans, Total, and 112 who combined have generated more than 30 million in album sales to date. She has worked as General Manager & Director of Marketing at ByStorm Entertainment and has held Vice President of Marketing positions at both Sony Music and MCA Records working with artists J-Lo, Ashante, Ghostface Killah, Jaguar Wright.
